It was Jonah Lomas promoting Moeen Ali Dr Matt, and don't you forget it.

There was a guy on here who called Ali the best spinner in the country a year before he debuted.

What was his name?

Sven Roeder 9:33 Mon Aug 7
Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
What about him?

Are you saying HE is the best all rounder?
That's a brave call

What about Mitchell MARSH?

Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
Can they cut the 'second spinner' bollocks now?
You could argue he is the best all rounder in Test cricket at the moment.

Moeen Ali, the first payer ever to score 250 runs and take 25 wickets in a four test series.

When he got called up for the England test team I was worried he would end up being a bits and pieces player - not a good enough bowler or batsmen for test level.

On current form though he justifies his place with both bat and ball. Let's just hope he can carry on like this through the winter.

Seems a lot of results go in favour with the team batting first as usual. Lucky Root is a good tosser.

Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
SA top order batting has been blown away in this series.
Which of course you have to put down to Englands bowlers

That said this Kuhn bloke must be the worst opener in the history of Test cricket
Surely playing a kid rather than a 33yo makes more sense
You do fear for SA with Amla and Du Plessis being 34 & 33 as well.

Bairstow catching Ali on the balcony and then Root giving him shit for it was cracking.

Malan .... 1, 10, 18 & 6
Like Jennings he will be sweating on getting the chance to repair his figures against the Windies.

Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
What are Cook, Root, Bairstow and Westley averaging in this series respectively?

Dr Matt 3:51 Sun Aug 6
Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
Payne has a terrible action to swing the ball in, therefore was like a left arm Amjad Khan.

One day Dawid, Duke Jennings and Fernando Westley will all have to go. As I predicted.

on a serious note, M4E son, talk to me about David PAYNE of gLOLcester

Why has he never progressed?

Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
Poor coaching and selection
Root and Bairstow are playing for England (as are Westley & Cook) while Handscomb is with the Aust squad prior to the Bangladesh tour.
Yorkshire have looked poor and rudderless all season. Lacking inspiration it seems

Eerie Descent 3:32 Sun Aug 6

BUSTER out for 18, finishing the series with an average of 15.

Dr Matt 3:30 Sun Aug 6
Re: 4th Test England v South Africa at Old Trafford
Root, Ballance, Bairstow, Plunkett, Willey, Handscomb, Patterson and Fisher all not playing for Yorkshire.

Nearly a 2nd team playing.

While facing a bankrolled side with two overseas players, including a former prisoner.
